I think its only wrong if you allow innacurate preconceptions (prejudices) to affect your own evaluation of that person, such that you end up with an incorrect assessment of their personality. If you...
1. Get the judgment right (unlikely perhaps)
or
2. Are just using a label that they themselves apply to themselves and aren't making any further judgements beyond the most basic features of that label
... then I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
