i assume you mean dave gilmour since waters was a founding member? drugs are very important to music. they heighten your senses and consequently intensify the creativity. Rave was an aural detailing of an being off your head on ecstacy, psychedelia was the representation of an acid trip, and early VU was the projection of reed and cales heroin habit. Drugs are a big influence.
