Default A Parade, A Band, A Darkness

Meet me at the parade you said, there'll be
Lots of candy and treasure to be had and
You'll hold my hand along the road so that
I know I'm not talking to myself again.
So I'm in line with the marching band throwing
Out love and kisses to the crowd knowing that
At the end I'll be seeing a piece of heaven who
Has finally taught me how to live.
So I prance on and on down the road with the
Fluttering of the fancy flute in my ear as
It played a pretty tune about the angel I'll
Be seeing in a mile or two.
But the trumpets stopped and all I could hear
Was the chelo playing a soft tune and
I rubbed my eyes as the fires of hell were
Dancing the night away in front of me.
And I waited and waited for the light to
Shine down and cast away the demons and
I keep saying my cherub will be here
Shortly but in the back of my mind I
Know she's having tea with Ghandi.
And I can't say that I blame you for
Wanting to stay up in Heaven for I'd
Do the same if my wings were as white as yours.
But I'll keep my window open every night
In case you decide to come on home.
