You could say punk is simple or anti-prog for the sake of it as well. But it's not true.
You could say a lot of alt rock bands are pretentious for having unnecessarily long song tracks. But it's not true.
You could say jazz exists for the purpose of having different chord progressions. But it's not true.
In the same way, to stating that prog is long/technical for the sake of it isn't true.
