Default Disco Inferno

Disco Inferno were a mid-nineties "post-rock" band, that formed in Essex and started as a post-rock band much in the vein of Wire and Joy Division. Over time, however, their sound became more hard to categorize and by the time they released their finest album, DI Go Pop, their music consisted of dense aural collages, with samples, droning basslines, and swirling guitar lines alternating between dissonance and melody all thrown into the mix to produce a mildly unsettling yet completely engorging experience. And then there are the vocals, bleak, depressing, and yet fitting perfectly into the music. In other words, not your typical "pretty" post-rock band, and perhaps more suited to the term than most bands I have heard.

Very highly recommended, though it took me quite a while to really get into it. But when you do, it's very rewarding.
