Yeah. ELP lyrics are hillariously bad. Rush lyrics are really sappy too.
But Peter Gabriel, Ian Anderson and Peter Hammell were all talented lyricists. Neal Morse (Spocks Beard) and Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) are too. As well as Richard Palmer-James, who wrote the lyrics for 3 King Crimson albums before forming Supertramp. And of course Roger Waters is an amazing lyricist.
Even Jon Anderson had his moments, even though he will be best remembered for lines like "Dig it" and "Cha cha cha, cha cha".
