Yeah, half of it was ballads, and half of it was funk. I think thats what it made it work so well, IMO is the last above average album they did. Because after that they pretty much abandoned the funk completely, I guess because they realised that ballads simply sell more records. I also think they lost one of the more endearing elements of their music, which was their touch of lowbrow but good natured humor.

I mean, these guys used to do shows wearing nothing but socks on their d*cks. How do they go from that to doing a whole double album of ballads? It seems a bit contrived to me, their new songs are pretty weak, they really lost the plot.
