I have lots to say;

Cannibal Corpse is probably my second favorite metal band, third overall. They were the band that got me into death metal, after being stuck in black metal.

I don't find their lyrics disturbing or mortifying. They're lyrics. To me, it's not about what is being said, but how it's being said.

At first, when I heard some stuff from "Gore Obsessed," I was like, "What the hell? These guys have no structure. It's just noise....." When you're in that comfort zone of music where everything is simple; 4/4 or 3/4 time signatures, no tempo changes, and overall just easy to follow music. It gets boring. I gave them another go, and I was amazed by them; Beyond the chaotic sound was a group of 5 musicians pushing their bodies and minds to manipulate their instruments (or in George Fisher's case, vocal cords). Just people like me, my friends, and everybody else on this planet who took the gift of time and treated it as one by perfecting and sharpening their playing.

And the shocker I found was that these guys are considered the tip of the ice berg.

I know there's more to music than technicality. If I was into it for technicality, Disturbed wouldn't be my favorite band. But technicality to me shows perseverance, endurance, stamina.

I own; Eaten Back To Life, Vile, Live Cannibalism (VHS and CD), Gore Obsessed, 15 Year Killing Spree (just 3 discs; they were burnt and I can't figure out how to copy DVD's), The Wretched Spawn, and Kill.

I think George Fisher is better than Chris Barnes, but I still think both are great in their own way.

I like both old CC and New CC. Old CC has that rough under-produced thrash-influenced sound where it isn't about playing tight as much as it is getting a message out, even if the message involves blood and guts. New CC takes that and adds more brutality to it.

I know how to play on guitar "A Skull Full of Maggots," "Stripped, Raped, and Strangled," and "Hammer Smashed Face," and am going to try and learn "Blowtorch Slaughter," "Covered with Sores," "Decency Defied," "Death Walking Terror," and "Shredded Humans" in the next year.

Side notes;

When I think of the kind of "brootal" music 12 year olds would listen to, Cannibal Corpse doesn't come to mind. At least around here, I didn't know about them until my senior year in high school. I think 12 year olds would most likely be getting into "Korn" or "Slipknot" before even hearing about Cannibal Corpse.

its like .. after you look past all the guts and grime .. there IS a rainbow on the otherside of the rotting corpse!
This may be the CC fanboy in me talking, but NEVER should you use the subject of cannibal corpse and the word "RAINBOW" in the same sentence, even if it is to compliment them.
