Not at all, my theory is that the transgressors, ie the floggers, snuck up to the horse in its sleep and began to flog it. The horse then woke up and retaliated against its attackers, but not before sustaining serious damage to the ribs and lungs. After kicking its attackers to death, it doubtlessly began to wander in search of an animal clinic, but found that its strength was quickly waning.
