There's a chance of dying anytime a human being does virtually anything. For all you know, in five seconds, a plane is going to crash into your house. Or in three seconds, you're going to have a heart attack and die. There are no dangers that come with hallucinogens that don't already come with merely existing.
But, again, you just have to know what you're getting into. If you do all the proper research and prepare yourself, you'll more than likely be fine. Especially with hallucinogens, which have little to no physical effect whatsoever. It's absolutely impossible for a drug like LSD to induce, say, heart failure, or anything of the sort. And, contrary to popular myth, it's not going to make you go crazy for the rest of your life. In the average person, the worst possible outcome of taking LSD (or any other common hallucinogen, for that matter) is a bad trip, and those can generally be avoided with research prior to the experience.
