Default DARK DARK post-punk/goth/noiserock/nowave

recommend me some of this. Recently, I've been enjoying welling in a pit of depression and want some bleak music to listen to while I'm pseudo-enraged at the world.

Not really, I just love this sh.it.

I love:

The Birthday Party - ahh their lyrics, the killer guitar tearing a whole in your skull, Cave's vocals. Brilliant.

The Cure - the early stuff is just a Gang of Four ripoff, but not too bad. Thru the 80s, though they released some stuff I am really lovin' just now. Pornography, especially.

Cabaret Voltaire - WOW! I wrote them off when I first heard them but I revisited Red Mecca and it's so intense and dark. Related to industrial bands in some way, who tf knows.

Swans - sludgy, aggressive, dark, nihilistic, bleak, passionate and just ****in' excellent! Cop and Children of God are my 2 favorites.

Bauhaus - like C.V, I didn't particularly care for them at first but listening to In The Flat Field about 10 times recently has convinced me they are in fact INCREDIBLE. The guitar work is what I love most, it's really scratchy and wild at times.

Joy Division - Love them so much. I couldn't pick a favourite album because I genuinely love it all. They're THE essential post-punk band, and watching Control recently has got me (obsessively) back into them.

Sonic Youth - BAD MOON RISING. That album is really bleak and dark, as is some of Confusion is Sex and Evol. 80s Sonic Youth rules all.

No-Wave bands - DNA especially. DNA are unbelievably good! Everything related to no-wave that I've heard I've enjoyed a lot, except for Lydia Lunch solo. That was ****.

Earth - I'm not really familiar with this type of music, but I was listening to one of their albums in bed and it was a pretty amazing listen. Need more bands like this.

Codeine - not similar to anything above mentioned, but they play VERY slow, with chiming guitars that sometimes get loud but mostly stay quiet and drony. Half spoken, half sung vocals. Theres something charming about the vocals, that and the interesting guitar lines keep me coming back. It gets tagged as "slowcore" music - read from that what you will. Theyre a good band to get high to. One of the members was in June of 44.

what's the point in this thread?

I'm looking for music similar to the above mentioned. I've burnt my way through most of those bands discographies, so I'm on the lookout for some new stuff. Mostly i'm looking for music with the bleak, hopeless atmosphere that some of these bands portray. It doesn't necessarily need to be sonically similar, ie they don't need to be post-punk bands. Anything with interesting composition will do. It can even be "classic rock"..but I'd rather it wasn't that.

also just discuss if you like those bands or not. And what do you guys thing of Control, the biopic about Ian Curtis? And how's the weather where you are? Anything. It's not like the punk forum has been that active or good for ages, eh?
