Leasing-Vertrag

I've always considered music to be very important, if not a cornerstone of my life that speaks to my soul more than any other experience. I've typically always done research online to seek out new music and expand my horizons, but recently I've dead ended and become frustrated, mostly due to the utter lack of spare time I have now. I'm aware how lame it is to simply ask for access to the knowledge of people who likely have much more experience due to time invested and experimentation, but I'm going to do it anyhow. I'm not expecting anyone to contribute their valuable time to help me with this, but if anyone feels compelled to, I am supremely grateful, even for a little advice.


What I'm going to do now is detail a few areas of music that I like, and try to be specific about why and what I like it for, to help pinpoint specific themes that could be related to other similar music. I'm not all that savvy on what specific genre everything belongs in, and as far as finding music that appeals to me, genres have always been close to useless. Here goes nothing.



Lacuna Coil

This is possibly my favorite band. The guitars are not by any means great sounding or melodic, but a few songs are very well done. They really shine on slower tracks like Within Me, Cold Heritage, and Purify. I have yet to find anyone with close to the same haunting effect Scabbia's vocals have, much less the range she is able to achieve and the skillful way she uses it.

Opeth

While I'm not a fan of screaming in heavy metal, I was enamored with Blackwater Park, particularly Patterns in the Ivy, Death Whispered a Lullaby, and Harvest. Whatever genre has that kind of acoustic guitar with decent vocals yet somewhat somber and calming is something I would love to know, I have trouble finding things similar.

Hurt

This is an alternative band I started listening to a few years ago, and they honestly stand above any other alternative band for me. The elements of the music (vocals, drums, guitar, etc) seem to come together so coherently and always convey a series of specific emotions accurately enough to makes the listener identify with the message of any given song to great effect. Forever, Danse Russe, Cold Inside, Rapture, Falls Apart and Ten Ton Brick are my favorites from this band.

Mindless Self Indulgence

Oddly appealing, but I can't tell exactly what kind of attitude they have about themselves or their music. Usually short energetic songs that are completely ridiculous and immature more than anything I've heard yet, but highly enjoyable. Futures, Shut Me Up, Straight to Video and Molly are my picks from them.


In Flames

I'm going to have to say while I don't like the band, I love some of the guitar work. I've always hated how many heavy metal bands have skilled guitarists, yet somehow they want to drown that out with horrible screaming that can't possibly be considered singing. Occasionally the "singing" is tolerable, like on Swim for instance, or Only for the Weak. I also like Colon and Resin, particularly the guitar solos.

Nevermore

This is closer to what I consider to qualify as singing, but still off the mark. Nonetheless, Dane does work well with what he has. Like In Flames, my main attraction to this band is the guitar work, but other elements that compliment it make it tolerable and often enjoyable as a whole. All Play Dead, Final Product, Next in Line, and especially The River Dragon has come are my favs from them.

Rammstein

Before the album Reise Reise, I didn't listen to them at all, or even consider doing so. What I like is the semi operatic way some of the songs are sung, such as Morgenstern, Reise Reise, and Keine Lust. These guys are also somewhat humorous when you learn German. Not crazy about their guitars, but the elements come together well enough for me to enjoy it.

Rob Zombie

I'm actually more of a fan of his remixes than his actual music, or an adequate explanation as to why I like his music. The remixes for Dragula and Meet the Creeper are really strongly motivating tracks.

Steve Vai

I haven't heard a great deal of Vai, but what I heard so far I've liked. I'm not sure if he wrote the song Eugene's Trick Bag or not, but that guitar playing is simply epic. The kind of guitar (slide guitar with southern USA influences?) played in much of the movie that song came from is also appealing. I need much much more of similar things.

Arch Enemy

I don't like the band, but one song I heard was utterly incredible. Enter the Machine. I can't understand why there aren't more metal bands without vocals, but simply just really good guitar work. Perhaps I'm just too ignorant or lazy to find them.

Crossfade

Another really good alternative band, but I've only liked a handful of their songs, namely Cold and Starless.



I'd be writing for a much lengthier time if I were to be foolish enough to try and index everything I listen to, so I'll let that be as is for the moment and see what, if anything, pops up reply wise.
