It boggles my mind that people will rush to pay $60+ for a mindless killing video game, but feel that music should be free.
I PAID for both 'Niggy Tardust', and 'In Rainbows'. Of my 600 or so discs, 90% are orginals- bought new or used. I like the album art and the booklets. Some of my stuff is copied, but none of it is filesharing.
Those of you who complain about the space a physical collection takes up, move your discs into binders. All my discs take up two small shelves with the booklets.
Another point is the universally poor sound quality of free downloads. I recently bought the hard copy of 'In Rainbows' and the sound quality is very much better than the download.
Some of us still care about sound quality- that's why the lp will never totally die.
