Haven't seen Hard candy but yeah, she didn't sit well with me either, although I wouldn't say she was terribly annoying...perhaps trying a bit too hard to be quirky and original. Regardless, it was an enjoyable experience. I said this on a different forum, it's like a foul mouthed version of the Gilmore girls, and I was a fan of that show so...It's nothing spectacular (and definitely
not deserving the Oscar nomination especially when you consider that 4 months 3 weeks and 2 days was
not nominated, and that film is a freakin' masterpiece!), but far from a waste of time or money...or time in my case...
