That's not a
current trend, dude. That's just how it is. 80s to present date. Contemp R&B, bubblegum pop, rap, other types of urban-tinged pop, and a little bit of soft rock here and there... that's where the majority of young people's tastes lie, at least in big city settings.
But...that could all be in the process of switching right now. Hiphop sales have been at a low for a while, there are no real major eminent figures emerging in the industry, and it doesn't have the pull it once did.
