Release date is May 13th.
"It's really weird. It's really, really good, I think, but it's totally a curve ball, and I think it's gonna be a really polarizing record. But I'm really excited about it. It's really got some teeth. The landscape of the thing is way, way more lunar than the urban meadow sort of thing that has been happening for the last couple of records.
[It's also] louder and more dissonant and ... I think abrasive would be a good word to use. [We were influenced by] heavy, sludgy, slow metal [and] synth-punk band Braniac."

Death Cab Throwing A 'Curve Ball' On New Album
My thoughts on the single... "Amazing, that bass line is so Joy Division-esque and the way the guitar interacts with also reminds me of Joy Division too. Not that the song sounds like Joy Division but those two elements seem to echo them. This is easily one of the most creative things they've ever done. "How I wish you could see the potential / the potential of you and me / its like a book eloquently bound / But in a language that you cant read." beautiful."
I haven't gotten bored with the single yet though the intro is a bit dragging at times I'm glad to see them step in a new direction. Lyrically Plans was amazing but from a musical standpoint it was pretty uninteresting and was like Transatlanticism part 2 but it seemed less intimate. This is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated albums of 2008, I hope more tracks leak soon.
