Someone (I already forget who) already admitted that most mainstream fans do not care that musch about music, and simply want it to be background soundtrack or whatever. Now, I will say I am more passionate and care about music more than them and it reflects in my tastes, if you want to say someone who doesn't care that much about music has equal tastes as someone who actually cares, so be it but I don't personally see how they could be treated as equal.

you want to think the music you listen to isn't corporate or contrived because it's not on the radio well, CQ and UH are providing ample examples that it's not the case.
My bands aren't corporate sell outs just because they sell pens.

but for most people pop music is like a background soundtrack for their everyday lives. some people like to let it happen, others like to grab the wheel and chose their own path. neither is better than the other.
Agaoin it's like comparing Van Gough to notebook doodles, if you want to say they are equal have at it.

it's not like metallica and pantera are bad bands, but when you can find their stuff at absolutely any record store you're not going to convince anyone that it's not mainstream.
Other than Metallica and maybe to a lesser degree Pantera, the bands I listen to (if you use my top 10 list CQ constantly brings up) I rarely find thier albums and merchandise at mainstream stores like hot topic. In fact, you cannot find a single Oomph album anywhere is the US unless you are in some larger cities (perhaps, even that I don't know). In average sized, common cities like I live, you find nothing, at all. Places like FYE and hot topic have no static x, they have no coal chamber, they have a couple of rammstein CDs and a couple of Rob Zombies, and literally only a couple.

just accept that you like mall metal.
Ok did you just make that word up?

It's about thier SOUND crowquill.

My local convienience store sells pens and lighters for fucks sake, are they corporate sell outs too?

And there is a huge difference between not being something and actively opposing it. Oomphs music doesn't reflect anti-corporatism but it doesn't refect pro-corporotism either. They sell...lighters, big fucking deal.
