Sometimes you just have to finish a song, i.e give it the structure it needs but make no attempt to "improve" it, and just walk away knowing that its not up to your standards. forget about it and come back to it, whether its a matter of days or hours, just try to let go of the writing process long enough to clear your perspective. When you come back to it try to look at it objectively as just a song, and ask yourself what you don't like about, what needs to be improved and what doesn't. Write the answers to those questions down. Take a break, and when you come back make your revisions.
