I have 2 distinct memories of 1st time LP listens.
1) Boston - I went to a friends house in 7th grade and he had a huge Pioneer stereo system in his bedroom (I had a clock radio) and he asked if I had heard the Boston album yet (More Than A Feeling was a current hit at the time), and I said no. He put it on, and maybe it was the awesome stereo, but I think it was the out-of-this world guitar sound that blew me away. Nothing sounded like that in 1976. I was speechless.
2) Pink Floyd/The Wall - I actually skipped school the day the album came out and went home to listen to it on my dad's strereo. I got high beforehand (cuz that's what you did) and tracked all 4 sides. I couldn;t wait to go to school the next day to give my in-person review to all my friends. It felt great to be the first.
