Fair points. Out of all the early 70's punk bands i think they had quite a lot of bite along with the Pistols. Raw Power by the Stooges is incredible too.
You're right about Complete Control, good song but hypocritical. The clash of personalities between Strummer and Mick Jones was a bit of a problem with me, in that Jones wanted to play stadiums while Strummer just wanted to expand and play more reggae-influenced stuff. They should have kept playing passionate smaller gigs.

That's a good point; the Strummer/Jones conflicts didn't really work out very well. In some bands, the tension is productive (Johnny Rotten's anarchy vs. Glen Matlock's traditional leanings; Lou Reed's commercial interests vs. John Cale's avant-garde preferences), but the problems in the Clash were counter-productive.
