Exactly! And ironically, it's often people who
claim to be well-versed in prog and jazz etc who say those sorts of things! The idea behind Dailor's drumming is to create a sort of quasi (and sometimes genuine) tempoless feel to the music, as if to create a free jazz aesthetic. You either like it or you hate it, but slating it because it's "overplayed" TOTALLY misses the bleedin' point.
I think it's awesome how he'll almost like just go into this mad frenzy and hit every single thing in sight and still somehow find the pocket.
