There is one more thing to consider: Family, don't drag them into the mess.
My "adventures" are solo trips. No incident by standers if you catch my drift.
For me it's about personal revelation and mental relaxation. Make sure it means something to you. And if I may, some advice, in the meantime stick to pot and booze, the rest is just to hairy.
