I love the first two VU albums (don't care for the others), but they're still definitely overrated. They were enormously influential, and their early work still holds up today, but you won't find a single critic (maybe a few deviants) who will dare to criticize the VU. There's a story Lester Bangs used to tell about journalists who deified the VU and heaped praised on their albums. When Bangs visited the journalists' houses, he'd find that Loaded had hardly been played, White Light/White Heat was still in its shrinkwrap, etc.
Ok, I guess I can see what you're talking about. Yes, their first 2 albums definately outshine the latter two, but I still enjoy them all. I still don't feel that they're overrated, but I can definately see where you're coming from.

Led Zeppelin- one of the greatest. I love them.

Allman Brothers- My favorite Rockabilly band. Even beats Skynyrd IMO.

Ben Harper- Don't really know anything about him.

The Clash- great punk rock band. Love their sound.

Bob Dylan- One of the best folk artists ever. Great songwriter.

The Beatles- Greatest band ever.

Pink Floyd- awesome avant garde band. Truly unique sound.

Beck- Not impressed with his work.

The Velvet Underground- One of the most influential bands ever. Great stuff.

The Who- When it comes to British rock, these guys completely own. Move over, Rolling Stones!

The Yardbirds- ahead of their time. spawned some of the greatest rock acts ever.

311- Very cool sound. Love the whole hard rock/reggae thing.

Jimi Hendrix- Probably the best guitarist ever.

Ben Folds- Don't know anything about 'em.

Queen- I think I've made it clear what I think of them...

Eric Clapton- A little bit goes a long way for me...

Incubus- Never really listened to them.

Jack Johnson- He's decent. Nothing more.

Otis Redding- I hate to say that I don't know much about him. I realize that needs to change..

Rage Against the Machine- STUPID!! I hate the vocalist, & their whole style sucks ass.

Stevie Wonder- Not much of a fan to be honest... I respect him but I'm not too impressed with his work...
