I think the PS2 controller is madly overrated.
It's comfortable to hold, but I just hate the button set up with a passion, the 4 shoulder buttons is especially confusing.
The Dreamcast had a great button set up, but the thing had an awkward shape and the whole having the cord at the bottom thing was just weird.
If I had to pick a favorite controller, it would be the Gamecube controller, it fixes the size issue that the N64 had, and that's really the only issue I had with that controller.
Or then again, maybe the Genesis controller. Yeah, now that was a classic. It had a great design, an appropriate size, and 3 buttons made every game easy to pick up, as well as making them easy to play via emulator. Unlike the SNES which is a bit trickier to play on emulator because of the shoulder buttons. It was even compatible with old systems like the Atari 2600 and Commodore 64, which was really cool.
