Hmn, I pretty much agree with everyone on Pink Floyd. Sorry to the DT-fanboys, but maybe this thread would have been better off if you had picked a group more on DT's level to compare with (AKA Symphony X or maybe Redemption).
I do give Dream Theater the credit, however, of giving birth to both
Images and Words and
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, which in my opinion were impressive efforts from an otherwise boring group of musicians. It's just a shame
Awake,
Scenes of a Memory Pt. 2, and their other 6 studio albums are fairly lame in comparison to those two.
At this point, I think John Petrucci should just go join some other band and knife LaBrie through the back before he goes...
