Default Hello from pianist James Cahall

Hello,

My name is James Cahall and I am in a solo pianist. I am currently working hard to complete my first album consisting of 14 original songs. My music can be heard at my website:

A little about myself:

For the better part of my life, piano has been my greatest passion. The road to discovery of my creative voice, however, has been challenging.

I started playing piano in at the age of five at the suggestion of my father. At the time, lessons and practice allowed me to cultivate self-expression under the watchful eye of mentor Thomas Ganoung at the Ukiah School of Music.

Of course the early years were a bit rough on my parents' ears. Over time, however, missed notes were replaced by flowing melodies. As my skills matured, I was blessed with the opportunity to perform many of the great classical works for members of the Ukiah, CA. community and throughout Northern California.

Pressure to pursue a professional career and a declining interest in classical piano during high school drove me away from music. The musical slump continued throughout my five years at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. Opportunities to obtain practice time were few and far between (pianos on campus were, for the most part, only available for use by music majors). After college I began to feel like a vital part of my being was missing.

But hope was on the way! My father came to my rescue and gifted me a Yamaha S90es Music Synthesizer for my wedding. My father may not be financially wealthy to say the least, but his heart and good intentions surpass any conceivable material wealth. Since then, I have found myself again in music. With the inspiration of my beautiful wife Katie, I began writing and plan to do so for the rest of my life.

I hope to share with all of you my feelings through each note and gain your respect as you support my endeavor!

Thank you for listening to my album “The Day Before Tomorrow.” If there is something worth doing, do it today. You never know if you'll have the chance tomorrow...

Regards,
James Cahall
