Slipknot=/=experimental.

What's so experimental about their music?

"Ok guys, on Iowa, sid is just gonna not play as much as he did, and we're gonna make it more heavy and obnoxious by tuning to drop A for a few songs."

"Ok guys, Iowa was great, but we now need to move in a 'different' direction. The masses are not eating up nu-metal as well as they used to. There's been some rumors that it's become generic and simplistic or that it always has been. Apparently we've had a leak in our organization which has tirggered these rumors. SO, for the third album, WE are gonna play everything we've played before BUT, and I know this sounds scary, on some chords we are gonna omit the 5th and just play a note, but if we do this really fast, we will create something called a 'melody,' or at least I think this is what it's called. Oh, and Mick, the producers of Roadrunner gave us the greenlight, and you can now solo."

"yay."
