1. Act of Free Choice - David Bridie (2000): Perfectly crafted. Atmospheric, sparse but never boring.

2. Automatic for the People - R.E.M (1992): The soundtrack to my entry into the adult world

3. Starfish - The Church (1988): Perfect jangly rock with prog leanings

4. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - Genesis (1974): Confusing concept, myriad lyrics and endless musical twists make this an ever compelling listen.

5. Terria - Devin Townsend Band (2001): How he can pull of being so gentle and violent in one album always amazes me.

6. The Color and the Shape - Foo Fighters (1996): absolutely late / post grunge songwriting. Still exiciting to listen to.

7. Us - Peter Gabriel (1992): loved the warmth of the sound, the honesty in the lyrics.

8. Deisel and Dust (1986)- Midnight Oil: A compelling look into the not so happy go lucky side of Australia...

9. Revenge Is Slow (2002)- Bluebottle Kiss: just great songwriting...

10. Sunset Studies (2000) - Augie March: long pastoral war epics meet all manner of instrumentation.

11. October Rust - Type O Negative (1996): Still just sounds great after 13 years...

12. Echolalia (2001) - Something for Kate: I could live my life by the philosophies in these songs...

13. Temple of Low Men - Crowded House (1987): Neil Finn at his brooding best

14. After Everything Now This - The Church (2001): washes by me as inside a dream...

15. "Melt" (Peter Gabriel 3) (1980): love how the songs all focus on psychology...

16. Out of Time - R.E.M (1991): taught me that music could be more than guitars, bass and drums...

17. Foxtrot (1972) - Genesis: It's got "Supper's Ready" on it... need I say more??!

18. Rocks on the Soul - Screamfeeder (2000): Just great songs, seriously...

19. Live at the National Theatre (1998) - My Friend the Chocolate Cake: a great compendium of all their best stuff, sounds even better live.

20. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - The Smashing Pumpkins (1995): Epic and amazing.
