its good for shred. strings close together works for chordal stuff but you need to be able to place your fingers exactly where they're needed for shredding. Wider string spacing to an extent makes that easier. So do flatter fingerboards.
That said, I'm usually underwhelmed with jackson stuff. Not because its bad, but because ibbys and LTD are usually better for the same money or less.
