wheres as rock music can be about anything, and generally isnt as depressing
You sir, are sadly mistaken. In both country and rock, the music can be about anything and I also find that country music isn't depressing.

Unfortunatly for elite_longbowman modern day country music is very similar to rock. For instance, when the Eagles first came out, they were considered rock. If they came out today though most songs would probably classify as country. However, don't fret, you can still mention country music tends* to have a fiddle and steel guitar while rock music can use music synthasisers*.

*You can still be X type of music without these.
