Default Crack The Skye

Review of the new album even before it's out:-

Metal BUZZ » News » MASTODON: ‘Crack The Skye’ Reviewed Track-By-Track

And the story behind the album that most of you will already know about:-

With regard to the above "review", there are several disturbing things which makes the reviewer look like a complete hack. The f**king emo reference for starters. And calling Leviathan a "classic death metal album". And putting SOAD on the same level as Mastodon in terms of complexity is beyond a joke. I like SOAD but come on...they're nowhere near as complex as Mastodon.

But I do kind of agree with his description of Blood Mountain in that it was a platform for the band to show the variety of their chops (after all the concept - the sights and delusions while climbing the mountain - was wide enough to make room for it) while Leviathan was much more focused (even though the subject matter of the entire album didn't restrict itself to Moby Dick).

Anyway, I'll stop pissing myself off now. All we can get from this is basically a vague type of structure that we might expect from the album...
