I get what's being said about someone being a jerk not affecting their talent / ability, even the quality of their work...
But we as human beings tend to have this sticky little things called emotional attachments and investments - sometimes we irrationally form these attachments with idols and assign characteristics to them we experience through their art (or their music, in this case)
... when we find out that some of these perceived characteristics aren't true, we tend to be repulsed by everything about them, in a reaction commonly felt as betrayal, which repulses us against everything that person does, even their music, regardless of its inherent quality...
