Generic? Pfft. In the present market, Franz stand apart from most the other dance-rock trash. They don't sound especially like any other cluster of bands around at the moment, and they have the advantage of actually being able to write *songs* (there's a novel idea). The point that Kapranov (or whatever his name is) actually has an ear for hooks and melody makes him a rare talent among those trying to make similar types of music these days. Add to that the point that they genuinely are doing it all in their own quite clearly distinctive way, and you have a band that breaks beyond the ranks of those who truly do earn adjectives like 'generic'.
