It should be in everyday curriculum, and right now at least for me, it is. Back then it wasn't. Most textbooks and teachers didn't cover it, so Black History Month was created.
What I'm seeing here is some that don't want black history month because they see the idea itself as racist. I agree here, no one specific race should get their own month dedicated to them. While it does go against that whole ideal, Black History Month serves a purpose of teaching history and understanding about the history of the blacks, but I think that should be expanded to include all races and groups. It could be a month dedicated to reducing ignorance through education.
