Well, whether the Stones were at their peak in the 60's 70's or 80's is all down to individual opinion. Of course, with The Stones I doubt you will find many who would prefer 80's Stones to 60's Stones.
My point lies however in the abundance of threads on this site and the original intent of the thread by the original poster. For me, Opeths records since 2000 would be certainly valid in a thread about the best metal albums of the decade, rather than bands.
A band can peak later in their career for sure but when your first record was 1995 and you had 4 by 1999 then that was the decade that the band was established.
