Have you heard Apocalyptica? It's not guitar, it's cello believe it or not. But they play lots of Metallica and other heavy metal stuff. If your just looking for some great guitar playing, what about Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Dweezil Zappa, or Yngwee Malmsteen?
I love Cake, and I'm a fan of Wilco. I'll have to check out the Flobots.
