Bringing up something out of the blue. Threads like, "Favorite *so and so* Song"? They generate responses... sometimes. Ok, fairly, they generate responses, sure. But they're two, three word responses, more than often just the title of the song. What is the use of these threads, really? There could be a debate, sure. But really who cares that this person thinks one song is better than the other and who cares if they argue? Especially if the band/singer is older and isn't producing anymore stuff (ie: Jimi Hendrix - given, an immense musician, but long gone in terms of he's not producing new songs anymore on account of, y'know, his death in 1970). Threads talking about, say, the Beatles' "LOVE" album is different, some may argue there's a lot to be said there on terms of opinion, debate, etc, and those "arguments" may actually be substantial in the music world (even if that "world" never leaves this forum and our little music world here). But my point is... the "Favorite song" threads are fairly pointless and don't really bring in a lot of useful conversation on the whole. Unless said threads can be expanded into a bigger discussion, I really don't see how they contribute to the forward "success" of the forum.
