Well the "grunge" era formed in the late 80's and early 90's as a movement (mainly against glam rock/metal, money driven music and Coc*y presentation) and became very popular. Today there are still "original" grunge bands and new grunge bands, but grunge is not mainstream.
Post simply means the bands aspire or draw influence from grunge bands but are more friendly to the mainstream audience. Usually the link is more focused on the sound of the band then the actual lifestyle around the music... well thats my opinion anyway.
Grunge is more of a lifestyle than just a music genre. After all they are just labels.... I prefer to listen to the music for the music... not the labels or the era.
I love bands that simply want to rock and are creative in there music.... not money driven like a lot of bands on the radio these days.
