A-Greed, its next to impossible to have music without drums, even in orchestras there are Bass and Timpani drums that provide important sound, I've never seen an orchestra with a guitar, and several musical genres generally lack any guitar, whereas there are always some sort of drums there.

As to which is easier to learn, it can depend, for me I was never able to really learn playing a guitar, whereas I learned how to play the drums ok, had more to do with my outstanding sense of rhythm than anything else
