Well, here's what I got from PMO;
This is quite an album to say the least. Over the last week I've been digging a bit deeper into Tom Waits' discography, and I've been supplied with another brilliant album here. Not as instantly accessible as
Mule Variations or
Rain Dogs, but having given it a couple of spins already I already love it, and can see it growing on me even more. I think the best way to describe a lot of it (based on early listens) would be as a mutant crossbreed of blues and jazz, with heavy emphasis on bizarre rhythms and oddball lyrics. It's early days, but the highlights so far are probably
Sixteen Shells From a Thirty-Ought Six, the harrowing
Frank's Wild Years and the gorgeous instrumental
Rainbirds.
Anyway, great album, and one I'll enjoy immensely. Ta PMO
