If you're as new to Sun Ra as I am to this forum I'd recommend 2 albums to start with....
the already mentioned "Cosmic tones for mental therapy" from the early 1960s (which includes primitive psychedelic/dub effects on some tracks, plus there's one called "Moon dance" that has one of the funkiest basslines of all time) and "Strange celestial road" from 1979 ("I'll wait for you" - which took up the whole of side 2 of the original album - is a particularly awesome workout for the Arkestra).
if you like those then there's several hundred other albums you can choose from....
