Pardon me if I'm rejuvenating an old thread,
but Blind Guardian has garnered enough acclaim in the power metal genre. Perhaps not overrated in comparison to Dragonfarce (and I say that with care), but Hansi is dishing out scifi themes, in an upbeat, heavy tone that would only interest a select niche audience. Which is perhaps why veiws are mixed by the critical mass.
I think
Control Denied was a masterpiece, comparable to Schulinder, Digiorgio and the rest's earlier work. I also thought
Genghis Tron deserved much more recognition for consolidating so many would-be-gimmicky experimentation.
