Completely agree with you. Albums like XO and Figure 8 have all that production and instrumental value, but Elliott wins with the s/t, It really is his perfect album. The only problem is if someone is turned off by his lo fi folksy early stuff chances are they won't give his later, more polished material a try. Very few ES albums sound alike.
