Acceptable? Unacceptable? To me, its all relative and its all about moderation.
Then again, I don't have children. I'm speaking strictly from what I experienced as a child, and yes, I did get hit (spanked, slapped). And now that I've grown into adulthood, I can say that I'm genuinely grateful for it. I love my parents, and I can talk to them about anything. I'm not saying that hitting your kids is the only way to raise good people. But I will tell you that I'm glad they hit me instead of doping me up. Doping your kids up doesn't teach them anything about respect.
