I'd like to pose a question, though you can think of it as rhetorical if you like. If smacks is your method of disciplining your children, what do you do if - after smacking - the child still doesn't do what you want it to?

Smack harder.
I was brought up on physical discipline. As far as I'm concerned, if it doesn't reach the point of abuse it does no harm. I'm far from a violent person and it hasn't impacted me in any way. Of course, I used to walk around with a book in my pants and ended up getting twice the spankings I deserved. My dad's even used a belt.
