Alexander Tucker - Old Fog
First thing that's worth mentioning is that there isn't enough good music out there made by people called Alex, so I'm glad I came across this
In short, I loved this album. The old freak folk description was quite an apt description. The guy is a wonderful folk guitarist, creating some really vivid sonic pictures with his finger-picking style, which are given even more colour by the occasional use the harp and mandolin. He even throws some heavy distortion into the mix on tracks like
Hand Of Reign. His voice has very ethereal quality about it too (kinda weird when you think about how he fronted hardcore bands in his early career), and gives the music that much more of a ghostly edge.
All in all, a very colourful and atmospheric album. My highlights at this early stage would probably be
Of Late and
the Patron Saint Of Troubled Men.
Thanks for this Lee
