I watched some of his stand up recently and I wasn't impressed at all. I liked him on Mock The Week and Argumental but I watched his set for Live at the Apollo and it wasn't for me. He came on stage and started insulting his audience immediately, singling individuals out and mocking them and whereas on occasion he may have been quite funny doing so it just all seemed too easy. Any idiot can do that but it doesnt make you a comedian.

Lee Evans used to be my favourite comedian, back when I was in school. I may not like him as much anymore but he is still funny. It's easy to criticise him as he isnt exactly very original, he isnt exactly very spontaneous and as you say his material isnt exactly overly intelligently written but he's a great physical comedian and he's very energetic. I feel that gets overlooked sometimes.
