I watched some of his stand up recently and I wasn't impressed at all. I liked him on Mock The Week and Argumental but I watched his set for Live at the Apollo and it wasn't for me. Lee Evans used to be my favourite comedian, back when I was in school. I may not like him as much anymore but he is still funny. It's easy to criticise him as he isnt exactly very original, he isnt exactly very spontaneous and as you say his material isnt exactly overly intelligently written but he's a great physical comedian and he's very energetic. I feel that gets overlooked sometimes.
