to be fair that's probably what put you off it in the first place.
any trekkie's gonna have shit to pick with a new Star Trek film directed by someone who never wanted there to be a lasting attachment to the aforementioned series. there isn't any mass appeal to a movie built off the classic Star Trek structure. it's not about the storyline because most people aren't even acquainted with the original series.
what i find is impressive is that they managed to create a Star Trek film which actually has some appeal to the general audience.
