Album 953

Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Year: 1988

This is a landmark album when it comes to extreme metal, and for that alone it's well worth a listen. This album marked a turning point between quick, harsh and fast songs, and started shifting towards long, epic arrangements. It's a landmark in both Viking and Black metal and yet another shift in sound for Bathory. As a result of this album, and the follow up Hammerheart the underground extreme metal scene in Scandinavia would change forever. Not only that, but it's an incredibly great album, very interesting and very heavy, even by todays standards. You'll love the riffs and the stripped down raw production (even if it is good by Bathory's 80's standards). This is one to listen to if you're in the mood for an 80's album that gives a glimpse into the 90's future.

3 Choice Tracks: A Fine Day to Die, Dies Irae, Blood Fire Death
