No, that's not entirely correct of course. AD is characterized by a loss of neurons, basically a breakdown of brain tissue, in the cerebral cortex and just which regions of the cortex are affected can vary from person to person which can make the some of the effects of AD unpredictable and differing between individuals. I used the word random to describe this, though there's probably reasons why some parts of the brain are lost while others not or later than others.
